designing community through buildings and businesses

What if your business was intentionally designed to build the community your kids would be stoked to stay in?

a little about me

I'm a wife, mom of three, architect, professor, and small-town redeveloper, which sounds like a lot until you realize it all traces back to one thing: I believe that the spaces/places we design shape the quality of our everyday lives.

My husband Matt is a local real estate attorney and the best teammate I've got. Our three kids: Hill, Mary Jack, and Campbell, are the reason I care so much about what Munford becomes. You’ll see us out and about at the playgrounds, walking to school and church, and getting our sweet treats at Mt. Zion Bakery.

At the center of my work is haizlip studio + daily design GROUP, the collaborative architecture and design practice I lead, and where I get to do work I love alongside an incredible team. Parallel to our client work, our studio has taken on its most personal project yet: the redevelopment of Downtown Munford. It's the place where we get to practice ourselves — and it's become the most honest expression of what we believe good design can do for a community.

I serve on the Munford Downtown Development Commission, Celebrate Munford nonprofit board, and as a Trustee at Munford First United Methodist Church, because showing up in a place means actually sinking in and serving.

Design isn't just what something looks like. It's how a neighborhood feels at 7am, noon, and 7pm, who opens shop next door, which street you choose to walk down, and whether the town you live in is one you'd actually choose on purpose. That's what I do. I design places — and help people design lives — worth staying in.
